DP William Ruto carries-KSh 10 million-to-Kajiado goat auction

The DP was in Kajiado for a groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed public university in the county 

He then proceeded to preside over the Kajiado County auction where he delivered KSh 10 million for goats.

The initiative dubbed Mbuzi Moja Maisha Bora, was aimed in  support of universal health care in the county.


Several leaders led by Kajiado governor Joseph Lenku attended the goat auction.

Deputy President William Ruto and his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Monday, September 3, bought a total of 1,400 goats worth KSh 10 million during a goat auction in Kajiado town, kayreporter's has learnt.

Ruto, who was in Kajiado to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed public university in the county, presided over the grand goat auction dubbed Mbuzi Moja Maisha Bora, an initiative by Kajiado County governor, Joseph Lenku, aimed at supporting universal health care in the county.


Uhuru, Ruto buy 1,400 goats worth KSh 10 million in Kajiado auction


The DP, who tend to be generous during fund-raising events, bought 700 goats worth KSh 5 million on behalf of Uhuru and a similar number of animals worth the same amount for himself.

Saying:

     "Boss yangu anaitwa Uhuru Kenyatta ameniambie nimnunulie mbuzi 700 na hiyo ni
      KSh 5 million. Na mimi pia kama mtu yake ya mkono nanunua mbuzi 700 (My boss who
      is called Uhuru Kenyatta sent me to buy for him 700 goats worth KSh 5 million. As his right
      hand man, I will also buy 700 goats),"


Ruto then made sure the remaining 8,600 goats were bought by the leaders who had accompanied him to the event.

"Bei ya mbuzi hapa, kama hauna KSh 7,500 per goat, huzipati. Hakuna hapa mbuzi free.

Unaweza lipa mingi (The starting price for a goat is KSh 7,500. If you do not have that amount you will not get a goat).

You can pay more," Ruto joked as he opened the auction of the 10,000 goats. The money raised from the auction would go towards Kajiado county's universal health care programme.
